Giving Thanks by Demaune Millard, Interim President & CEO

As we near the end of November, I’m drawn to ponder on how quickly the summer and autumn months flew by. Also in my reflection are the series of robust conversations that have taken place with Baltimore residents since July. Our Board of Directors charged us with intentionally seeking direct feedback from residents on their expectations for an agency and its leadership responsible for granting public dollars in support of the cradle to career continuum.

Putting After-School Meals to the Test

We want Baltimore City kids to get the best after-school meals possible – which is why we’re tasting everything our vendors serve. This month, our staff concluded three weeks of sampling actual dinners served at over 96 community sites. We’ll be sharing candid feedback about what’s working, and where there’s room for improvement.

Annual Meeting & Celebration Recap

Thank you to our friends and partners who attended our Annual Meeting & Celebration in early November. At the event, we honored six award recipients who are actively creating positive change in Baltimore for children, families, and communities. We hope those who attended found the evening meaningful and made connections that can enhance the work we all do throughout Baltimore.

Support Family League

When all children in Baltimore grow up healthy, succeed academically, graduate high school and transition into higher education and the workforce our goal will be met. Until then, we must pull together our best thinking, our best talent and our collective resources to ensure that every child is provided an equal chance to reach their potential.

When you make a gift to the Family League of Baltimore, you help improve birth outcomes, kindergartner readiness and ensure that schools are safe and conducive for children to learn and grow. Family League has been a trusted community partner for more than 25 years. We ensure that the investments are made where they are needed and we are accountable to the community for results.

Please make your gift today. The children of Baltimore are counting on us.

Thank you.
