Family League believes that quality afterschool programming – like the Expanded Youth Programming and Out-of-School Time work made possible through the support of the Mayor’s Office and Baltimore City Council, the Maryland Governor’s Office of Children, and private philanthropic dollars – plays an integral part in improving outcomes for children and youth and is a necessary part of a comprehensive plan to improve public safety. This year, we are excited to lead the local effort to highlight the importance of afterschool programs and enrichment for the young people of Baltimore. Lights On Afterschool, taking place on Thursday, October 24th, is a national initiative held annually and spearheaded by the Afterschool Alliance. This year, we are working to have one of the most successful citywide showings in the country.
